Is 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe A Good Car?
Overview
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe has plenty of space for passengers and cargo, making it a great choice for those who need a large SUV. Three engine options are available, providing decent towing capacity no matter which one you choose. The entry-level engine is a 355-hp V-8 but the 420-hp V-8 provides more power if you need it.
Several different engine options are available for the Tahoe, including a six-cylinder diesel inline-six. Standard features include three-row seating and popular infotainment and driver assistance features. If you're interested in off-roading, the Z71 model is probably the best option for you as it includes a two=speed transfer case, an adjustable air suspension, and all terrain tires.
If you're willing to spend more money, you can find a better experience with the Premier and High Country models. However, if you're not careful, you might end up paying as much as you would for a Cadillac Escalade for a Chevy. Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Tahoe has V-8 power for every generation and that hasn't changed. However, now there is also a 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder engine in addition to the standard 355 horsepower 5.3 liter and available 420 horsepower 6.2 liter blocks . Even though it has the least hp of the three engines, it makes up for with 460 pound feet of torque which equals that of its bigger V_8 counterpart . Every Tahoe comes equipped with a 10 speed automatic transmission as well as your choice between rear or all wheel drive.
We took the Z71 model off-roading, which comes standard with a V8 engine and two-speed transfer case for traditional four-wheel drive. It also has 20" wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, as well as underbody protection. Our test example had good acceleration, a firm brake pedal, and an impressively quiet cabin at highway speeds.
In addition to air springs (which permit the Tahoe's ride height to be automatically and manually lowered or raised), the Z71 package also comes with adaptive dampers. The most fuel-efficient Tahoe features the available diesel engine, with ratings of 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The standard 5.3-liter V-8 is estimated to be slightly thriftier in the city than the optional 6.2-liter V-8, but both are rated at 20 mpg on the highway. We tested a diesel-powered Tahoe on our 75-mph highway route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, and observed 27 mpg. The Chevy offers several high-tech towing assists in addition to its loaded roster of standard driver-assistance technology. What is the difference between 2022 and 2023 Tahoe?
Not much has changed for the new model year. Only the RST Performance package, new styling cues, and Super Cruise availability are new. Unfortunately, buyers looking for a vastly different full-size SUV than the 2022 Tahoe should look elsewhere.
